Abdul Majeed Zerger, his wife Farzana, daughter Nabeela 17 years old, and son Nabeel 15 years old were murdered at midnight between Friday and Saturday 7/8 October 2011. The victims were killed by squeezing their necks and cutting their jugular veins with a sharp weapon when they were asleep in the night.
Adeel, another 9 years old son of the deceased Abdul Majeed luckily remained unhurt in the incident.
The Mirpur police have solved the case and have arrested the young accused Arsalan Arshad (Nephew of Abdul Majeed Zerger) and friend of Arslan Arshad, Raja Faizan Mustafa son of Muhammad Iqbal.
Arslan Arshad is a Gujrat-based Jeweller and is Nephew of Abdul Majeed Zerger. Arslan Arshad along with his friend come to Kakra Town Mirpur and visited his uncle Abdul Majeed Zerger home and said they here to visit Mirpur Azad Kashmir and want to stay tonight here.
Arslan Arshad and Raja Faizan Mustafa have confessed they committed the murders so they could have enough money to move to Malaysia for better future, according to the police.
According to Police Arslan Arshad and Abdul Majeed Zerger had strained relationship due to family disputes since long. During interrogation Arslan Arshad confessed the murder of four innocent lives. The accused told the police that they committed the crime for money for the sake of going abroad to Malaysia in search for a brighter future. The accused, including the mastermind Arslan, the nephew of the deceased said that they came to the house of deceased Majeed in Kakra Town and asked him about their visit to Mirpur besides the request to restore the old cordial relationship. They accused said that they implemented their brutal plan by killing all four members of the family one after the other and later escaped by looting the money besides bagging the gold ornaments and other valuables from the house including a laptop and four mobile phones and later fled to Lahore. The accused told the police they failed to loot gold ornaments from the shop of deceased Majeed following the non-availability of keys from the house.
