A total of five men have today been detained for life after murdering their uncle Haji Choudhary Rab Nawaz over an ongoing family feud.

Armed killers who savagely hunted down a loving dad before stabbing him in the heart outside a mosque over an ongoing family feud have been locked up for at least 125 years. The gang of five thugs ‘acted as a pack’ after plotting their murderous onslaught against their uncles Haji Choudhary Rab Nawaz and his brother.

They took a total of 53 minutes to hatch their plan after a ‘chance encounter’ when they spotted the two brothers in a prayer room during a funeral at a mosque. Members of the public, including worshippers, looked on in horror as the killers wielded huge ‘lethal’ knives and an extendable baton.

The terrified brothers attempted to seek refuge inside their place of worship but all five attackers chased them and continued their deadly assault near the doors of the mosque. A total of five men from Birmingham and the Black Country were today detained for life

for Mr Nawaz’s murder in what was described as a ‘long-standing and ongoing dispute’ between the families.

It comes after jurors convicted the defendants of murder, as well as the attempted murder of Mr Nawaz’s brother, following a trial at Warwick Crown Court. The gang of attackers included brothers Adam Razaaq, Hasnian Razaaq and Hasham Razaaq, along with relatives Faisal Mohammed and Jenaid Mahmood.

Three of the killers were Mr Nawaz’s nephews while the other two were related to him through marriage.

Adam Razaaq, 21, of Long Lane, Halesowen, was handed a minimum term of 25 years. Faisal Mohammed, 30, of South Road, Birmingham, was told he must serve a minimum term of 27 years.

Hasnian Razaaq, 24 of Long Lane, Halesowen, was given a minimum term of 26 years. Hasham Razaaq, 23, of Long Lane, Halesowen, was handed a minimum term in jail of 25 years.

Jenaid Mahmood, 19, of Markby Road, Birmingham, was detained for life, with a minimum term of 22 years. He was also convicted of possession of an offensive weapon, which was an extendable baton.

Mohammed, Hasnian Razaaq and Hasham Razaaq were also convicted of possession of a bladed article, while Adam Razaaq previously admitted this charge.
